you know I really don’t enjoy blogging for some reason! Maybe it’s just cause I don’t think anything I do is really that riveting! Well I did do a whole overseas tour that I didn’t blog about but that’s mainly cos Lance’s blog was so amazing that I was intimidated! Anyway I’m just warming up for our first gig back from the tour and our only Melbourne show for the rest of the year! Should be lovely actually and it’s a small venue so I guess we’ll be sweating it out! My family will take up half the place as it is!
In other new I got very fantastic new red blinds installed in my front room today! They look great! And Brett put in our new door with the much needed help from our good friends Darren and Mike! If they hadn’t helped we would have had to stay home for the rest of our lives so nobody broke into our wide open house!
Next weekend we’re off to a festival in the Hunter Valley. looks like a big one! One of these days I’ll get around to putting photos to my blogs!!
My other big concern is getting ready for father’s day. Hmmm, well who knows when I’ll see you all back here! Thanks for your comments and continued support! See you all at the gigs xoxox

I will get to it though! we are about to drive off to Calais after a wonderful night in a Belgium farm house near Lille! So we’re driving to catch the ferry and then drive all day to Manchester! Tomorrow we have a radio session with Craig Charles on BBC6. off we go…………..

We just left Melbourne for our four week Bamboos tour and Anton has suggested I do some serious blogging!I managed to get 3 seats to myself and sleep most of the 14 hour journey and now we are stopped over in Dohar where it’s 31 degrees at 6am and apparently hits 58 in the summer! Nice. We’ve done the long haul flight and next it’s the 7 hour flight to London. Two movies and some excess food should do the trick. When we arrive in London we have nothing to do but drink since we’re not able to check in to the hotel for 6 hours! I seriously miss my boys, but the view from the plane helped me realise I’m on the other side of the world and I just have to be here now! We start off with a Mark Lamarr show at BBC Maidavale. We ;will play live in the studio and then they will play it at a later date-at least that’s what happened when we performed with Cookin on 3 burners. As anyone can tell from the Bamboos website we are on a gruelling work schedule this time with sometimes 6 gigs in a row and 2 days off.Who knows how we’ll be received-keep you posted..xox

I guess i can alway find time to blog when australia’s got talent is on cos I spend most of the time cringing and looking away from the tv!! Reg stayed home today with a chest infection and we spent most of the day queueing at the doctors!
Since I’ve been away the Bamboos have been on RAGE which is very exciting and played a successful instore gig at NORTHSIDE records! I myself have done a gig at The toff in town with Lance,Ugg and Chris paraha! The bill included the wonderful Ella Thompson and the amazing Syrene who I have never seen before. I’m now a serious fan!
The Anzac weekend my cousins and family friends come down from Darwin and Barham and Warrigul to see the footy and drink a lot! They all came to my gigs and tried for the most part to behave themselves! It’s always lovely to be around the Barham crew! Finished off the weekend with a roast here for cousins Taighen and Charlie and Brent. I always hate when things are over.
Not long now til the big Bamboos cd launch! what the hell will I wear?!!better go find something!!

it’s been a while! I’m just watching Bondi rescue and the Bamboos are the backing track for the show!! Very exciting! Had a lovely little pa gig at Phoenix bar in Melbourne last weekend, which went down well i thought! April 24th I’m doing a gig with Lance on guitar at The toff in town with Ella Thompson and Syrene from Boom La!Anzac day I’m going to the Essendon and Collingwood game at the MCG with my cousins from Darwin and Barham!!
Next Saturday the Bamboos are doing an instore appearance at Northside records ,Gertrude st Fitzroy-so that’s April 17 at 3pm! Then my band is playing at a warehouse party in fitzroy!!that should be groovey getting back to the hood!!
just watched a little bit of australias got talent-against my will-in a family home these things happen, really don’t like the judges. I’m guessing i’m not alone!hmmmm i’m changing the channel!! I just cringe about people being made to feel crap about their singing. It’s all so corporate when singing should just be fun and not about selling. Don’t tell my record company i said that!!haha

Just got back from Womad with the Bamboos! What a lovely festival!!The music was fantastic and even though the weather wasn’t great it was a great weekend had by all.Oh and the dumplings in Adelaide’s china town are to die for!! Of course being the clever traveller that I am I went away without one piece of warm clothing….hmmm.
Every day seems to be jam packed with music these days which I guess is a good thing!I’ve been doing some lovely gigs with dj Mike Gurrieri wherein he plays my tracks instrumentally and I sing over the top-we just supported the gorgeous Nickodemus from the US at the Croft institute. That was fun!
I also took part in a New Orleans style funeral with all the other great melbourne singers! It wasn’t a person I knew but the funeral was amazing! A horse drawn casket with top hatted horn players marching into the church where a gospel choir sang up a treat!wow, what a way to go!
Today I did a session for some friends that’ll hopefully be used for an ad. It’s all varied and interesting this singing game! My gig at PENNY BLACKS is the next thing in the book-MARCH 27 , Sydney rd Brunswick!
And I’m singing a couple of songs at the launch of ROSS IRWIN’S new band UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE!! That’s at Red Bennies on Friday march 19th. Red bennies is on Chapel st near KFC . I think it’s 329 or something like that. Should be an excellent night.
Better go and watch Desperate housewives!!xo

been riding bikes to school with Jim every day which is good for my fitness. He got star student of the week for being a good learner!! how cute. My nephew and his girlfriend have been visiting on and off for a couple of weeks now. Also my friend Marni came to visit from Byron Bay-god knows why anyone would ever leave that place! The Bamboos gig at St Kilda festival was quite successful I think. Huge crowd although their behaviour was mainly questionable and if it wasn’t for backstage passes I wouldn’t be wasting a perfectly good sunday queueing with drunk teenagers for absolutely everything. Festivals used to be fun-you could drink for a start! There’s way too many rules for everything these days-mostly for the lowest common denominator, with whom every festival is chocka block! Anyway old folks like me really should just stay home!! Playing in South Yarra tonight with Cookin on 3 burners at Red Bennies. Should be fun.
March 27th Saturday at 9pm, I have a gig coming up for my solo stuff-songs from JUST SAY and MADE OF STONE. It’s kind of the start of a new era for me. I wanted to wait til Jimi was in school and now he is so the ball has started rolling! That will mean I’m in 3 bands which may really be too much. But my solo stuff is just starting out at the bottom really so Cookin and Bamboos gigs will still be a big part of my life. Obviously the music on both albums involves really big bands(ie the bamboos and added extras) and I want to step away from this and try to scale it back. Lance and I have done a few gigs with just vocals and guitar which worked ok so the songs are strong enough. Just need to shake it up a bit!A new physical and maybe mental challenge-to get a big sound out of a smaller band!
The gig will be at PENNY BLACKS in Sydney rd Brunswick.

well it’s nice to make it through to another year. 2010 is showing signs of promise. New remixes of tracks from MADE OF STONE are out on tru thoughts now – it on the tt web site.
Had a lovely swim at Neilson Park beach today with a million other people.Speaking of a million people Al Greene is playing at the opening of the Sydney Festival tonight and I would have braved the crowd were it not for the fact that Felix Hayley and I are going to see him in melbourne on Thursday and we’re sitting in the 5th row !!! Oh dear how horrid my life is!!Well now I must go out in Newtown to a Japanese restaurant with my lovely brother and sister in law,Ben and Toni. Then I’m thinking maybe drinks with Luc and go to Tonic to see Lanu and Flevans burning up the decks! As you may have noticed I’m in Sydney. Flew up last night because i’m singing with the BAMBOOS at the DAYS LIKE THIS festival tomorrow at 1pm.
Had a perfect holiday in Hay and I’m going back ASAP! and i just heard that Marni is in Sydney so that’s wicked news and thanks to PHIL NOY from the BAMBOOS she is coming to the show tomorrow! yeehaa!

I went to a spin class the other day-on that 39 c day, and they were playing SOUL II SOUL and i remembered that i absolutely love Caron Wheeler-is that how you spell it? Back to Life is one of the all time best songs in the whole world. I wish i’d remembered to play it on Sarah Howells show. But i did play a lot of chick singers. And what’s the name of the chick who used to sing with C&C music factory? Was that Carleen Anderson? Anyway i love her too! So today i braved the crowds and the elements and actually did some christmas shopping. Heaps of crap nobody really wants but i wouldn’t want them to think i wasn’t thinking of them! Oh that reminds me i need to order some cards from the tear catalogue, you know the goats and toilets ones? and i will definitely stock up on some BIG ISSUE CHRISTMAS CALENDERS for people who i know for a fact have too much! So tomorrow night is the big BAMBOOS gig at the ESPY. I don’t have a new dress which bores me. But it’s Lance’s birthday so nobody will notice my dress. The next gig is on December 28th at the FALLS FESTIVAL which is always lovely. It’s nice to be actually able to sit and write something because it seems every waking hour is jam packed with things i have to do and visitors or visiting. So many opportunities to eat and drink too much and absolutely no will power. Now my friend Lyn has told me i must link things to this blog and i don’t know how to but i’m going to try! wish me luck….back soon!
