ok its been some time since I wrote anything down! But that’s because I was trying to write lyrics for my 3RD ALBUM!!! yes it has finally happened! Its called Still Life. It’s not mastered yet but all in good time. We also finished the 5th Bamboos album just before it so quite a lot has been going on indeed!
We didn’t tour overseas this year which was disappointing but hopefully before the year is out we will see our European and UK friends again!
I think this year I will concentrate more on doing my own thing either as a trio or with the full band. I was fortunate enough to get a gig at AWME recently and the 7 piece band worked out very nicey.
Feb and March are packing out with the Bamboos doing Port fairy and Moomba and the Echuca riverboat festival! I am also doing the food and wine festival in Adelaide on Feb 19th.
Reggie is in year 12 this year so I hope my singing a lot doesn’t distract me from my considerable parenting duties this year. Jimi is in grade 2 and laughed when I asked him if he had any homework!
I will try to put up some pics from the recording of my album but I am a luddite so it may not happen! wish me luck

So no Bamboo tour for us this year to Europe unfortunately! We were scheduled to come over this month but some of the boys couldn’t make it-Ben(the keyboard player) has had a baby girl so that’s a good enough excuse for me! I always love the Europe tours but it’s also lovely to be home with my family.
Have had a few gigs lately, most recently a benefit for Yuri the Bamboos bass player who hurt his back and can’t work. Quite a good turn out! I also did a gig at the Toff in town with Shirley Davis and Chelsea Wilson which is part of a run of gigs on Tuesday nights in June called Women of soul.
Coming up my little Sunday arvo gig at Ridells Creek July on the 3rd of July at Season’s Bistro. Should be lovely. I’m playing with Lance and Mick so it’s guitar and bass! 3pm for anyone who’s up that way.
Going out for tea with my friend Janet and her daughters tonight! Very looking forward to seeing them and having some Japanese food and champagne!! Speaking of which I had a lovely long weekend with a fire, good company and several bottles of champagne!Need some serious alcohol free days! Have been excercising with the mums from school with a fantastic trainer who is really helping me get fit! I need to not be puffed on stage when singing for an hour and a half with no breaks!
til next time!xo

I spent international womens day catching up with one of my oldest friends and her daughters! Lovely! This weekend 3 of my girl cousins are coming to hang out in Melbourne with me so that will be a celebration as well! After seeing a show about the plight of women in Guatemala it’s easy to see how lucky we are here.
Back to the night cat fitzroy again this friday night. Disappointingly the Bamboos tour to Europe this June has been cancelled. Some of the boys couldn’t make it so it became financially unviable. I’m sure we’ll get back there eventually!
In other news I’m going to try my best not to buy milk from coles and woolworths because I don’t want to eventually be buying my milk from China. Coles and Woolworths have never cared about farmers and have been making life hard for them for a long time. If you want to know more about this you really need to read the Weekly times. If anyone knows a good place to buy milk that helps Australian dairy farmers stay in business please let me know!

I managed to avoid the world for almost a month at my parents farm in Hay NSW. Lovely to see all my family. My parents need a serious rest now! During that time I flew around Australia with the Bamboos for the run of Fall’s Festivals which was fantastic! We did Lorne, Tasmania(Marion Bay), then took a scarey overloaded charter flight to Perth and drove down to Busselton via Bunbury where I caught up with an old mate from school.
I was then lucky enough to have a few days off and visit with my brothers and their wives/girlfriends in Fremantle. Got to laze around in the water at south freo which is gorgeous. From there I flew to Brisbane for the last of the Falls festivals. We got rained off stage half way through our set and saved from electrocution! The airport was closed the next day but luckily we managed to get home before the serious floods started.
My band-a 7 piece which plays just songs from my albums-played at the Eltham food and wine festival on Jan 22. It was so lovely! What a great vibe, people dancing and generally enjoying themselves. My son Reggie got up and did some bvs too!
The same band is performing March 1st at Melbourne uni-a lunch time gig for the student union. It’s a fun gig with sausages thrown in!!
Meanwhile Reggie is home recuperating from having his tonsils and adenoids out, which means I’m on call!!

Had a lovelychristmas with the Gumley family in Canberra,as well as some quality catch up with my cousins. Got some fab presents and ate my weight in ham which is making me feel less than great right now. Just about to embark on the run of Falls festivals with the Bamboos which will take me around the country. Hoping to see you all at the end of it-hoping also never to fly Tiger if I can ever help it since they are horrid in soooo many ways.
It’s good incentive to get rich and or famous so as not to have to deal with morons. Still I guess there’s always idiots to deal with, but that doesn’t meanI need more practice!
Here’s to a happy new year for everyone!
love and laughsxox

Lance and I finally made a start on album number 3!! who knows where it will lead us. There’s no major idea as yet, just an organic kind of undertow! Life continues pretty much as usual. I have actually managed to get a 6 piece band together to play the songs from my two albums, and we did a gig in City square for the Melbourne Music festival. The lovely PBS radio put us on and I feel it was a success! The boys all sang harmonies which is one of my dreams come true. We are playing again in Fed square on Dec the 2nd at around 6pm so that’ll be exciting. I’m working two days back at the jewellery shop and it’s nice to have to dress up and go into the city. Otherwise I would just continue to clean the house and go mad! Although I did just buy a new vacuum cleaner which I’m very much looking forward to using-it’s being delivered-I hope!!!The last vacuum cleaner made me very angry! always stopping!
Brett became a grandfather last month to little Mathilda. I haven’t t been able to meet her yet because she’s in Canberra but I can’t wait.I guess that kind of makes me a grandma!
I’m getting together with Dion Hirini to do an acoustic set at 303 high st northcote this Sunday arvo 3pm the 31st of October-halloween!! Jimi is adamant that he wants to go trick or treating but I’ve told him it’s American and we don’t do it. I’t’s all about the lollies as far as he’s concerned!
Now I’m off to sell some jewels!!

you know I really don’t enjoy blogging for some reason! Maybe it’s just cause I don’t think anything I do is really that riveting! Well I did do a whole overseas tour that I didn’t blog about but that’s mainly cos Lance’s blog was so amazing that I was intimidated! Anyway I’m just warming up for our first gig back from the tour and our only Melbourne show for the rest of the year! Should be lovely actually and it’s a small venue so I guess we’ll be sweating it out! My family will take up half the place as it is!
In other new I got very fantastic new red blinds installed in my front room today! They look great! And Brett put in our new door with the much needed help from our good friends Darren and Mike! If they hadn’t helped we would have had to stay home for the rest of our lives so nobody broke into our wide open house!
Next weekend we’re off to a festival in the Hunter Valley. looks like a big one! One of these days I’ll get around to putting photos to my blogs!!
My other big concern is getting ready for father’s day. Hmmm, well who knows when I’ll see you all back here! Thanks for your comments and continued support! See you all at the gigs xoxox

Tomorrow we have a radio session with Craig Charles on BBC6. off we go…………..
